We get off early after a good breakfast at the Macedonia Resort Club and head directly to the border. After one and a half hours at Busia, we are through, the only problem is to purchase the Third Party Insurance. On the Ugandan side, they only offer insurance for 4 months, it would cost about 110 U.S.$ or 12,000 KSH. I have to go back to the Kenyan side and draw cash at the ATM. To get there, I take a bicycle taxi.
On the Ugandan side, it doesn’t look different than on the Kenyan, the roads are slightly better.
We arrive early in Jinja at 2 o’ clock, we decide to have a lunch at the famous Chinese Restaurant LingLing, but its not great at all. There are no real supermarkets in Jinja, in an Indian store I purchase a loaf of bread and some cookies. The bread is good!
We drive along the White Nile to the Bujagali Falls, sadly we don’t see much of the falls. We stay overnight at the much-lauded Haven.
The beautifully designed showers are either boiling hot or freezing cold, the staff is loud, even at night at 12 they walk across the Lodge grounds, debating loudly. That is Uganda’s best Lodge?
